Which farm should we keep?

The farm saved in the cloud and the one on this device are different. Pick the one to carry on with. The other one will be replaced.

How to farm

  1. Dig. The hoe 1 turns grass into a bed. You start with six beds already dug.
  2. Sow. Pick the seed bag 2 (click it again to choose a crop) and click beds.
  3. Water. Fill the can 3 at the big stone well just behind the farm, then water the beds. Plants only grow while their soil is damp (dark). A watering lasts 10 minutes at normal speed. A little drop sign means "needs water", and a hoe sign means "plow me first".
  4. Sprinklers. Buy them at Marigold's, pick the sprinkler 6 and click an empty spot to place one. They water the beds around them at 6:00 and 14:00. Click one with the watering can to refill it. To move or remove a sprinkler, click it with the hoe 1: it goes back into your supplies, ready to place again.
  5. Pick. Ripe crops sparkle. Gather them with the basket 4. Hold the mouse button and drag to work along a row. A picked bed is left stubbly: plow it with the hoe before you sow it again.
  6. Sell. Marigold's farm shop (the cottage at the end of the path, or the Shop tab) buys anything any time, but pays only half price. The Saturday market pays far more if you price your crates well. Orders pay a bonus by a deadline, and the Sunday vegetable show gives prizes for your best crop.
  7. Grow. Spend coins on seeds and supplies at Marigold's, tool upgrades in the Workshop, and more land (click a For Sale sign).

Looking around

Right-drag (or Q/E) turns the view, the mouse wheel (or +/-) zooms, and WASD, the arrow keys or middle-drag move it. R goes back to the field and H (or clicking Marigold) steps into her farm shop; Esc steps back out. On a phone, use two fingers to turn, pinch and slide. Hold the phone sideways and press ⛶ for the full-screen layout: tools along the bottom, and the Basket, Shop, Market and other panels behind the buttons on the right (tap one again or × to close it). On an iPhone, use Share → Add to Home Screen instead, then open the game from there. V switches to a flat top-down 2D view, and F11 (or the ⛶ button) plays full screen.

Your Market

Build a roadside Market (Market tab, or Buildings at Marigold's) and place it just outside the fence on the road side. Click it (or press M) to walk over and put crops on its shelves. Villagers stroll along the road every 30-60 seconds between 7:00 and 19:00; each stops, picks something from the shelves and pays full price. Saturday is market day, with twice the customers. Upgrade slots, signposts and baskets in the Workshop.

Hollow Orchard

Once all 12 vegetable plots are yours, the tree farm across the river goes on sale (press O to look). Plant saplings from the seed bag, water them, lay compost as mulch, and prune grown fruit trees with the shears 7 before they fruit. Fruit trees bear again and again; timber trees are felled with the axe 8 for logs, then you clear the stump and replant.

Orders, XP and decorations

Orders go out on your delivery truck and are paid when it gets back (1-4 minutes, longer for bigger orders). More trucks are in the Workshop. Harvests, sales and deliveries earn XP for your level. Buy decorations in the Decorations tab at Marigold's, and use the Decorate tool 9 to move or sell placed ones. The well behind the farm refills your can.

Quality stars

Every crop gets ★. It earns a second ★ if it never went thirsty for more than 3 hours, and a third ★ if it grew in compost 5. More stars mean higher prices and better show scores.

Time

A whole day and night lasts 24 minutes at normal speed: one game hour is one real minute. Nights are dark; from 19:00 you can Sleep to skip to morning. Crops take from 1 minute (radish) to 11½ minutes (pumpkin), and a bar under each plant shows how far along it is (amber means it's waiting for water). The game saves every 30 seconds, and when you come back later everything carries on as if you'd left it running at normal speed. Sprinklers 6 run at 6:00 and 14:00. Refill them by clicking them with the watering can, or pick one up with the hoe. Space pauses.
